Day by Day Itinerary
Day 1: Dar-es-Salaam Airport – Kigoma – Gombe National Park
Depart from Dar es Salaam Airport with a flight to Kigoma where upon arrival you will be picked up for the transfer to Kibirizi for your boat to Gombe Stream National Park. You’ll arrive in time to take off for a chimpanzee tracking tour in the forest. Gombe Stream National Park’s main attraction is obviously the chimpanzee families that live protected inside the park’s boundaries. Visitors take walks deep into the forest to observe and sit with these extraordinary primates for an entire morning. Apart from chimpanzee viewing, many other species of primates live in these tropical forests. Colobus monkeys, baboons, forest pigs and dik dik inhabit the dense forest as well as a wide variety of tropical birdlife. Later in the evening, you will head to your Lodge for dinner and your overnight stay.
Day 2: Gombe National Park
After breakfast, you will take off for another day of chimpanzee tracking in the forest. Gombe Stream National Park became well known for the conservation project started by Jane Goodall, who first arrived in Gombe on 1960. You will climb to Jane’s peak and visit Kakombe Waterfalls if time allows; as well as taking a walk on your own. After this, a trek along the lake’s waterfall is also possible. Later in the day, you will return to the lodge for dinner and your overnight stay.
Day 3: Kigoma – Kilimanjaro Airport
After breakfast, you will drive to Kigoma Airport and catch a flight to Kilimanjaro Airport. Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport you will be met by a Benson Safaris Tanzania Transfer Driver and transferred to your hotel where the remainder of the day is at leisure – rest in your room, relax in the manicured gardens, enjoy a refreshing swim in the pool or explore Arusha and the surrounding areas on one of our day tours, the choice is yours.
Day 4: Central Serengeti National Park (B, L, D)
After breakfast you will travel to the Serengeti National Park which is one of Africa’s premier game parks. Driving through the Ngorongoro Conservation Area toward the Serengeti National Park you will begin to experience the vastness of this territory and marvel at the multitude of animal and bird life while cruising through this acacia spotted savannah.
The Serengeti is Tanzania’s oldest and most popular national park and is also a UNESCO World Heritage site. The Serengeti is a year-round destination and each season has its own special highlight with the most famous being the annual wildebeest migration, a once in a lifetime experience.
Day 5 & 6: Northern Serengeti National Park
On Day 5: Hot Air Balloon Flight and Champagne Breakfast in the Serengeti. Enjoy a hot air balloon flight in the world-famous Serengeti; launch at dawn and rise as the sun rises before gently floating over the plains for around 1 hour. Upon your graceful return to the ground, you will feast on a champagne breakfast under an acacia tree before beginning your full day game drive.
Today you will venture deeper into the world-famous Serengeti on a full day game drive in search of the great wildebeest migration.
You will base yourself around the Mara River area where crocodiles prey and the wildebeest gather and wait to cross. For days, their numbers will increase and anticipation grows, however, for no apparent reason, many will turn and wander away from the water’s edge. Eventually the wildebeest will choose a crossing point which varies from year to year and cannot be predicted.
Nowhere in the world is there a movement of animals as immense as the great wildebeest migration and to witness it is a once in a lifetime experience.
Day 7: Central Serengeti National Park
Today you will continue with a full day game drive in Central Serengeti National Park. The Serengeti is Tanzania’s oldest and most popular national park and is also a UNESCO World Heritage site. The Serengeti is a year-round destination and each season has its own special highlight with the most famous being the annual wildebeest migration, a once in a lifetime experience.
