Arusha’s main language is Kiswahili, but English is widely spoken, especially in tourist areas. The city has two airports: Arusha Airport (ARK), mostly for domestic flights, and Kilimanjaro International Airport (KIA), about 50 kilometers away, serving international travelers. From Arusha, you can fly to Zanzibar or safari parks, or drive to the Serengeti, Tarangire, and Ngorongoro. ATMs are plentiful, and while US dollars are accepted in some places, having Tanzanian shillings is best for local purchases.
