Day by Day Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival at Kigali International Airport
Your Gorilla Safari in Rwanda adventure begins the moment you land at Kigali International Airport, where your Hope Tours Africa driver-guide warmly welcomes you. Kigali’s clean streets and rolling green hills create a peaceful first impression of the country.
Depending on your arrival time, enjoy a short city orientation tour featuring scenic viewpoints, cultural districts, and Kigali’s modern architecture. You then check into Cozy Safaris, your comfortable base for the night, to rest and prepare for the days ahead.

Day 2: Kigali Genocide Memorial & Transfer to Volcanoes National Park
After breakfast, your day begins with a deeply meaningful visit to the Kigali Genocide Memorial, where you gain insight into Rwanda’s history and remarkable transformation.
After the memorial, embark on a beautiful 2.5-hour drive to Volcanoes National Park Rwanda, passing terraced farmlands, artisan markets, and the iconic Virunga volcano chain. Upon arrival at Grotta Resort, enjoy the mountain air, breathtaking scenery, and a detailed gorilla trekking briefing from your guide.

Day 3: Mountain Gorilla Trekking & Cultural Experience
Today is the highlight of your trip – Gorilla Trekking in Rwanda.
After an early breakfast, you head to the park headquarters for a briefing with experienced rangers. Your trek winds through bamboo forests and volcanic slopes until you reach your assigned gorilla family. Spending a full hour with these gentle giants, observing their behaviors, emotions, and family dynamics, is profoundly moving and unforgettable.
Return to the lodge for lunch before visiting Gorilla Guardians Village, where former poachers share their transformation stories through dance, music, and cultural demonstrations.

Day 4: Departure
After breakfast, you will check out and begin your scenic transfer back to Kigali. Depending on your flight time, you may have time for last-minute shopping or a brief city visit before being dropped off at Kigali International Airport for your departure.

This is a private safari, run exclusively for you and each vehicle holds a maximum of 7 clients. If an accommodation is fully booked we’ll suggest a comparable alternative where possible.
