Ol Doinyo Lengai Hike
Ol Doinyo Lengai – 3 Days Hike: The Mountain of God is an active volcano located in Gregory Rift (Arusha). Famous for it’s active natrocarbonatite lava, Ol Doinyo Lengai has been last erupted 2013. The landscape of the Mountain of God is a unique place with it’s carbonatite ash over the surrounding grasslands, filling the surrounding landscape into a lush enriched pasture for many animals. Wildebeest pass through this stretch of land on their annual migration, so the birthplace of many wildebeest is along this path and many thousands of calves are born here. Venture to the wild, remote and hauntingly beautiful Lake Natron and watch the sun rise from the summit of Ol Doinyo Lengai!
Our 3 Days Hike is a non-participation, full service camping Hike which includes the following equipment; all-seasons 2-person tents, mattress and pillow. You have the option to upgrade your accommodation to Moivaro Tented Camp in Lake Natron instead of full-service camping.
Ol Doinyo Lengai can be hiked in 3 days, and it is important to consider your fitness level and experience with high altitude mountaineering when choosing your itinerary. If you have no experience with high altitude trekking, we recommend a 4 day trip as this will give your body more time to acclimatize and give you a greater chance of reaching the summit. We are looking forward to challenging you and taking you on the trek of a lifetime.
